About Us

RR MedSciences is pioneering breakthrough topical therapies to redefine relief for people living with pain and inflammatory-driven conditions.

Founded in 2014, we are a clinical-stage Australian company based in Sydney. Our novel, patented small molecule complex - RM191A, is the foundation of our platform technology and product pipeline.

Our mission is to transform care for millions around the world living with pain and inflammatory conditions that are inadequately met by current therapies.

RR MedSciences directs extensive pre-clinical research and clinical trials in collaboration with research teams at the Pain Management Research Institute (Royal North Shore Hospital), Kolling Institute for Medical Research, Sydney University, University of NSW, and Macquarie University.

Our Team

Llewellyn Casbolt | Founder, Board Chair & CSO

Llewellyn is an experienced corporate leader in biopharmaceuticals and medical devices, with a career spanning senior management, MD and CEO roles across R&D‑intensive organisations.

His technical expertise centres on metallo‑complexes, anti‑inflammatory drugs and advanced formulations. He is responsible for RR MedSciences' core drug discovery, product formulation design and the Company’s portfolio of research collaborations. His work in this area includes contribution to multiple RM191A skin studies recognised in the Redox Biology January 2021 journal overview.

Llewellyn has worked as both an executive and as a consultant in the areas of corporate finance, corporate strategy, strategic marketing and new product development and implementation for a diverse range of industries. These include innovative human and veterinary pharmaceuticals, biotech products, cosmetic, toiletry and confectionery products, finance and investment, high-volume consumer goods, as well as financial planning software, and the creation of new investment vehicles. He has also listed a biotech on the ASX.

After completing a BAppSc in Chemistry at Monash University, Llewellyn began his scientific career joining an elite global development team at Nicholas (Kiwi) International with postings in Australia, the UK and the USA. After a period in corporate management in the financial sector, he returned to his passion of med‑tech innovation.

Sofia Casbolt | Director & CEO

Sofia has been involved with RR MedSciences since its inception. She has over a decade's experience in leadership, strategy, management and operations in the NFP, health and pharmaceutical sectors. 

Her expertise includes identifying and capitalising on strategic growth opportunities, establishing and nurturing robust partnerships, and navigating complex commercial and operational challenges to deliver transformative results for the health sector. Her career includes leadership roles in cancer research charities: PanKind, Australian Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, and Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, where she orchestrated high-impact medical research funding and patient support programs.

Sofia brings distinctive cross‑disciplinary insights from degrees in chemistry and anthropology from Macquarie University, as well as business training at Harvard Business School and Cicada Innovations. Short‑term appointments with global pharmaceutical leaders including Novartis, Novo Nordisk, and Galderma, have further honed her ability to deliver therapeutic innovations and navigate the complexities of international pharmaceutical research and commercialisation.

Catherine Eddy | CFO & Company Secretary

Catherine has over 35 years' experience in financial management and accounting. Prior to joining RR MedSciences in 2024, she held senior financial roles in ASX listed, US multinationals and privately held businesses. Her industry experience includes biotech, medical device, digital services, technology and professional services.

Catherine has worked in several startups, been through an IPO process and been the CFO of a newly listed ASX entity. She also has international experience (US, Canada and NZ), and has expanded businesses in Asia Pacific several times, including new country and/or product launches.

Catherine has primary responsibility for reporting, financial management, cash management, taxation and compliance matters. Catherine holds an Honours Degree in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Kenneth B. Clark | Advisor

Partner Emeritus, Fenwick & West LLP

Former Chair, Tax Controversy Group, Fenwick & West LLP

With over four decades of practice at Fenwick, Kenneth has advised numerous large and small companies in a variety of fields. He has provided legal and strategic advice on start up matters, litigation issues, and real estate problems. He has helped resolve business and legal problems in numerous countries, spanning Europe, Asia, Australia and North America.

Kenneth is now a partner emeritus of Fenwick. He led Fenwick & West’s award-winning tax controversy practice since its formation, working on high-profile tax controversy matters in the United States and internationally. Kenneth’s group and Fenwick’s tax practice have represented 50 of the Fortune 100 companies of the world. Fenwick has received numerous accolades for its tax controversy practice, including recognition by International Tax Review as the top controversy practice in North America and as the U.S. tax litigation firm of the year in a number of different years.

Kenneth has worked on important matters for such companies as Apple Computer, CBS, Xilinx, Victoria’s Secret, Limited Brands, Chrysler AG, Cameco Corporation, and VF Corporation.  He has been included in International Tax Review’s World’s Controversy Leaders and Euromoney’s World’s Leading Transfer Pricing Advisors, among other accolades.

Educational  Background:

Kenneth received a B.A. from the University of Redlands, where he graduated first in his class. He received a J.D. from New York University School of Law, with honors, and was a member of that school's Law Review. Kenneth also received an M.B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley. He has extensive experience in teaching speaking techniques and won the U.S. freshman national collegiate debate championship.
